Australian fitted sheet sizes in cm: Single 91 x 193, King Single 107 x 203, Double 137 x 193, Queen 152 x 203, King 183 x 203 and Super King 203 x 203, each with a 40 cm skirt (40 or 50 cm for super king). A fitted sheet matches the mattress size, and the skirt depth decides whether it fits a deep mattress.

Skirt depth: the measurement people forget

Width and length come from the bed size, but the skirt (the side wall of the fitted sheet) has to reach around the mattress and tuck underneath. A 40 cm skirt suits standard and pillow-top mattresses and most beds with a mattress topper added. Measure from the top of the mattress (or topper) to the base; if that is more than about 35 cm, look for a deep-wall sheet. The mattress protector underneath uses the same 40 cm skirt and goes on before the sheet.

Fitted sheet versus flat sheet sizes

A fitted sheet is cut to the mattress size plus the skirt, so a queen fitted sheet is 152 x 203 cm. A flat sheet is far larger because it has to tuck under all sides: a queen flat sheet is 255 x 260 cm.
