Mattress Protector Care Guide

A high-quality mattress is an investment that can last up to a decade if you take good care of it. One way to help your mattress reach its full potential is to use a mattress protector to prevent oils, spills, dust, and dirt from getting into your mattress.

When using a mattress protector on your bed, you should also take the appropriate steps to keep it clean, which will, in turn, help to preserve the mattress it's protecting! It’s best to read the instructions on the care label to ensure you have the right information for your product. For some of our most popular choices, here are the general guidelines when caring for and cleaning Tontine mattress protectors.

Anti Stain Mattress Protector

Our anti stain mattress protectors are made using polyester and polyurethane and are not suitable for dry cleaning, but can be machine washed on a warm, gentle setting. Don’t use bleach on these, and avoid soaking them or wringing them dry. Once washed, simply pull them back into shape before line drying thoroughly. Avoid tumble drying or ironing your anti stain mattress protector, as the heat can damage the integrity of the fabric.

Anti Allergy Mattress Protector

Anti Allergy mattress protectors have a polyester cover, fill, and skirt, and a polyurethane backing. The best way to care for these products is to gently machine wash them on a warm setting, avoiding bleaching, soaking, or wringing. If needed, you can pull your mattress protector back into shape when wet, then spread it out to line dry thoroughly before placing it back on your bed or storing it. Be careful not to tumble dry, iron, or dry clean your anti allergy mattress protector.

Waterproof Mattress Protector

Tontine’s waterproof mattress protectors contain cotton, polyester, polypropylene, and polyurethane. These are not suitable for dry cleaning, so should be machine washed on a warm, gentle cycle. Do not tumble dry or iron these, instead, simply spread your mattress protector out to line dry as soon as it’s washed. If needed, you can pull it gently into shape while still wet, and be sure that it is thoroughly dried before reusing or storing.

Quilted Mattress Protectors

Our quilted mattress protectors are made from cotton and polyester, and require gentle treatment and care. When washing, these should be machine washed on a warm, delicate cycle before being line dried thoroughly. Be sure to avoid tumble drying, ironing, and dry cleaning your quilted mattress protectors.
